High potential and gifted education
At Galungara Public School, teachers are committed to identifying and nurturing high potential in students through the use of objective, valid and reliable formative assessment practices. These practices inform teaching and learning across the creative, intellectual, physical and social–emotional domains.
- Creative Domain: We provide opportunities for students to develop innovative thinking and artistic expression, encouraging originality and problem-solving through diverse creative activities.
- Intellectual Domain: We challenge students with enriched learning experiences that promote higher-order thinking, deep inquiry, and advanced knowledge across the curriculum.
- Physical Domain: Recognising the importance of physical development, we support students in enhancing their coordination, health, and physical skills through targeted activities and sports.
- Social-Emotional Domain: We prioritise the emotional wellbeing and social development of gifted students, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and positive relationships to help them thrive within our school community.
Teaching and learning at Galungara Public School is underpinned by high expectations for all students. Teachers recognise that every learner benefits from evidence-informed, differentiated learning opportunities designed to maximise growth, engagement and achievement.
Teachers systematically assess and identify the specific learning needs of all high potential, gifted and highly gifted students, ensuring equitable access to differentiated programs and targeted support that respond to individual strengths and needs.
We work in partnership with families, our school community and the wider community, and engage in ongoing professional learning to strengthen teacher capability. Through these collaborative and reflective practices, our teachers are committed to being the catalyst for high performance and talent development for every student.
